Managing layers

The Layers panel on the left lists every layer in your project, from the top drawing layer down to the basemap. The selected layer drives the Style panel and the Attribute table.

  • Visibility: click the eye button to show or hide a layer, or hide every layer at once.
  • Order: drag layers to reorder them, or use the move up/down actions. Layers higher in the list draw on top; the basemap always stays at the bottom.
  • Opacity: each layer has an opacity slider from 0 to 100 percent.
  • Zoom to layer: fit the map to the layer’s extent, when bounds are available.
  • Identify features: click features to see their attributes in a popup.
  • Labels: toggle text labels for vector layers that have a label field.
  • Metadata / properties: review the layer’s source and settings.
  • Remove: delete the layer from your project.

WFS and GeoJSON-from-URL layers can refresh automatically to stay in sync with a changing source. Choose a refresh interval (15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or a custom value), or refresh manually.

To draw or edit features, use the editing tools to add, move and delete vertices on vector layers.

The Background entry at the bottom of the panel is your basemap. Toggle its visibility and adjust its opacity here. To change basemap, add one from the Add Data flow (see Adding data).
