Place search

An on-map search box with autocompletion. You curate what it searches: worldwide places (geocoding), your project layers by attribute, or both — and what a selected result does on the map.

Parameter What it does
Placeholder The hint text shown in the empty search box.
Max suggestions How many suggestions the dropdown shows (1 to 5).
Places (geocoding) Offers the worldwide place search. Search for picks the scopes offered to end-users: address, city, country — offer several and a scope choice appears in the widget.
Project layers Offers layers of the map as search sources, matched on the attributes you pick (none picked = every text attribute). With more than one source offered, end-users get a source selector.
Selected result Pin on map drops a marker; Highlight feature emphasizes the matched geometry (layer results — geocoded places always get a pin).
Zoom on result Off: the pin/highlight appears without moving the camera. On: the map flies to the result, at the zoom level you set.
Position The map corner the widget lives in. The panel always unfolds toward the inside of the map.

A search button opening the input; typing shows up to your suggestion budget, labeled with their source. Selecting a result pins or highlights it (and flies to it, if you enabled the zoom). The search glass turns into a cross while a result is active — one click clears the pin and starts a fresh search.
